I Don't Have Sex

I swear the fact that I am holding out for sex until the perfect time has caused more problems in my adult life than in my college years. Maybe it's the caliber of men I'm dating or maybe a grown man figures he shouldn't have to wait for sex, either way the situation gets awkward very fast. Before anyone jumps to conclusions, I'm not a naive Christian bible thrower who thinks this is 1950 not 2010. I know what time I live in, that's even more the reason for me to abstain.

A few weeks ago, I visited a man I'm dating at his house. We watched a movie and I feel asleep. A few hours of uncomfortable sleep later, I woke up to my friend trying to take my shorts off with one hand. He wasn't successful. Please note that this isn't to put anyone on blast because rape or attempted force didn't occur. After kissing for a bit, I reminded him that I don't have sex before marriage. (Mind you, we had this conversation a few weeks ago and I was perfectly clear with him) He asked me why. I told him that it was something I always felt to do and one day I decided to "just do it" and it went all types of wrong. I really felt like God intervened in that situation and just made it go bad, he tried to blame me. Whatever. Then he got on his moral high horse and said how can I keep on principle when I don't keep the sabath? Really? Then he referred to me saying I wanted to take a bath in diamonds stating I don't care how they're obtained. Then he asked me how I think he felt how about sex and I said he didn't wait and he said neither do you and laughed. I was too through. I didn't think it was funny. This is why I don't have intellectual conversations at 3 a.m.

I'm not going to lie, I felt a bit disrespected. It's not like I sprung the "no sex" thing while he was on top me, I told him what it was weeks before. The "no sex" thing is always awkward. It's not that I don't want to have sex, it's just that I haven't been in love yet. I want to have good sex and I want to have a lot of sex. When I fall in love, I will have sex.

Why I don't have sex:

1.) no accidents- this includes children and STD's. One or two hours of okay sex is not worth to headache of unplanned pregnancy or treating an STD. It's just not worth it.

2.) I want to make love- sex has been cheapened. You can get it from everyone, everywhere. I want a bit more.

3.) it doesn't seem worth it- like I said before, I want to have lots of good sex but I need the right person. A man trying to bust a nut is not the right person. On the other hand, he may not be trying to bust a nut but he would still have to wait until I'm ready.

Notice I left religion out of the equation because although God does have something to do with why I'm waiting, he is not the only reason. There are other reasons and they're personal. I'm not the abstinance police. If you want to have sex, go ahead but please be safe, know who you're sleeping with and protect yourself. One bad night of sex can last a lifetime.

No, Don't Teach Me How To Dougie” by Loundon C

If you haven't already heard of the song by Cali Swag District, you're not missing anything special. “Teach Me How to Dougie” has a hot beat, no disagreements there. However, when I first heard this song recently, it became even more clear to me that good lyrics just aren't important to your average Hip Hop fan. On the radio, it gets requested because it sounds good and is easy to dance to. I have no problem with that, but would it hurt to couple that beat with some rhymes that aren't so basic that a caveman could catch the punchlines with flying colors? I'm not saying I want lines to soar over my head but just give me something to think about. I'm aware that there are requirements for these songs to get such heavy rotation: Dumbed down lyrics? Check. A great beat? Check. A dance for people to learn? Check. Infectious hook? Check. Sounds like a hit to me. It's just unfortunate that I rarely hear songs shying away from this formula.

Moving on, the hook on this track is definitely catchy. However, the dance itself is somewhat confusing. There aren't many specific moves one could pull off by simply watching the video. It doesn't seem to be as easy as the “Crank That” song by Soulja Boy. Regardless, I can't hate on the group's hustle. If people still want to groove to this song then, do your thing Cali Swag District and keep teaching. But don't expect to see me in class.

Here is Solange at the Bowery Ballroom for the Green Label Sound Show. I love her effortless style. The outfit doesn't make sense but the way Solange puts it together and her confidence makes this the look of the week.

Is American Idol Over?

News about the future of American Idol has been floating all around the blogosphere and word is Ellen is out J.Lo is in and Kara is out and there is no word on her replacement. I've been telling people that "Idol" has been over since Paula left but people disagree because it is a "cash-cow." I feel like what's the point anymore. The contestants are ghosts of themselves, the auditions are jokes, and the judges aren't interested anymore.

When American Idol first aired, it was a show at giving those who may not have a chance to live their singing dream an once in a lifetime experience. The contestants were rough around the edges, may be older, a bit overweight, generally people that the music industry looks over. American Idol wanted them all. The first winner was a small town Texas girl, who was a bit overweight but could actually sing the modelesque singers into shame. The next winner was a 300+ pound black man, and then came Fantasia a high school drop out with a young daughter. American Idol didn't care about all the other stuff, they just wanted talent.

I don't know when Idol took a turn. Maybe it was when William Hung became an overnight sensation or when Paula became drugged out. Either way, Idol became a joke. People still watched the auditions for the crazies who would curse out Simon, genuinely believing they could sing, but the magic was gone. America knew it and the producers knew it. So last season Paula left, Ellen came, and Kara Dioguardi was added. Most people were confused. Gone was the awkward tension between Simon and Paula, gone was the camaraderie of the three judges who knew what the contestants were going through. In was a cash cow that was struggling to stay relevant.

I haven't watched Idol in years but I watch enough TV to know that the judges were checking out. I watched an episode of the Soup were Simon and Kara were talking while a contestant was singing; that's when I knew American Idol was over. Simon obviously knows it too because he's left to produce and star in World's Got Talent, something that will undoubtedly be bigger than both shows he's judging. Everyone knows that Simon is the star of Idol. He's the uncle who speaks his mind and pisses off the family but at the same time you're watching to see what he'll say next. It's not that Simon was rude, it was he was real. He said what people say on blogs and to their friends; he said it to the world. Who can fill that spot? J. Lo probably can't. I have trouble seeing what she can bring to the show. So it's just down to J.Lo and Randy, who didn't bring much in terms of entertainment. I won't be watching but I know someone will be and I'll find out that way.

Celebrate You: If It doesn't hurt...

Last week I started a new endeavor to change my life and this week I'm in pain. I'm running every other day and I'm eating better. Today, I ran and I'm sore. Yesterday, all I wanted was a chicken dinner from M&J's and a nice half and half, Arnold Palmer for the foreigners but I couldn't. I started this journey and I plan to continue it.
After a few moments of woe is me, I was reminded that I haven't even done anything yet. I had only been in the good fight for a week and to complain when it has been a month. So much for that. I say all this to say, whenever you're doing something big or making a life change it's going to hurt. The hurt may be philosophical or physical. When you exercise, the pain is physical but the reward outweighs the pain. Changing your life is never easy. It's exhausting and requires you to go to a place you've never been. I'm on my way to that place and although I'm tired, I know I've got alot more work to do.

I say all this to say: if you give up, you're never going to have anything. Stay in the good fight and the reward will outweigh the pain.

Is Christina trying too hard?

Ever since photos of the Dream and his assistant cheating in the Caribbean, Christina Milian has been on the blogs a lot looking happy and having fun. There's nothing wrong with having fun and hanging out but I swear I haven't seen this many photos of her in months. First, there was her working out in a tight body suit:
Then there was this picture with Christina and Serena Williams hanging out:

Then we have the latest one of her and Mel B hanging out:
As much as I love a good comeback story, I feel like Christina is trying too hard. She's trying too hard to show the press that she's okay and to show Dream that she doesn't need him. It's like a typical break up. No one wants their ex to see them depressed and crying, so they put on their best outfit, get their hair done/cut, and just go out looking fresh to death in hopes their ex will see them and realize they don't need them or make them want them back.

It's obvious she's doing the former because the Dream has been done with this relationship since December 2009. In court papers, he stated the divorce was irreparably broken and they will not be getting back together. In other official papers, Dream had her sign away the right to any alimony or half of anything he owns, so what's a girl to do? Get out there and remind people what you're worth. Here's my advice to C-Mili

1.) Get a job: I'm not talking about UPS, I'm talking about tapping into what your best talent is, acting. And I mean a real job, not any of the low budget B-movies you've been starring. Get a role in a big movie and start from there.

2.) Don't respond to negativity: right now, Christina is the trending topic on Twitter and a sympathetic figure in urban culture. So much so that she and Funkmaster Flex got into a mini Twitter war.

"Christina Milian is Finished out here....Dream just wrapped you up...."
This obviously didn't sit well with Ms. Milian, who fired back at Flex via
Twitter:
"@funkmasterflex when will u just leave me alone and get a life? I
swear all uve ever done is pick on me. What's ur problem dude? Go away."
Sensing trouble, Flex responded to C-Mili in a much more appropriate tone:
"@CMilianOfficial.i was jokin. i will give you a break. wasnt personal.ps i
dont agree with what the dream did. love to your little one."
Christina then
thanked the DJ for his apology

This stuff is for the birds, leave it alone. If you want to get on Beyonce's level, take a page from her book and don't respond to negativity like this.

3.) reinvent yourself: do you want to be forever banished to music/acting purgatory? No, then reinvent yourself. Update your image, find new mature music that appeals to the masses but shows your growth.

4.) keep the Dream's name out of your mouth: this goes along with #3, if you want a successful career, then put this behind you. Refuse to answer questions about your marriage and divorce, keep it about the music/acting, and a bit of baby violet. It may help for you to tell how you survived this scandal, people love a good comeback story.

5.) Stop calling the paparazzi: I know the blogs are the only way for you to get your name out there but stop calling the paps, it's not cute. Let your next appearance be career oriented.

Diddy Covers Vibe

Diddy and his Bad Boy fam are set to cover Vibe in their August 2010 issue. Diddy sat down with Vibe Editor-in-chief Jermaine Hall for the cover story.

Dr. Dre said that the last beat that floored him was “All About the Benjamins.”
How does that make you feel?

It’s humbling. I was in the studio with Dre the
other day. He started working on a record for me. Watching him as a producer is
watching greatness. We had a lot of similar traits. It was like looking in the
mirror. He would ask questions like, “How you feel about this?” People don’t
really understand true producers want to know how you feel about things. We are
some of the most observant people on the planet.

What happened during the Martin Bashir interview on Nightline?
There were times in the interview
when I had to give him an ultimatum. The questions weren’t being handled the
right way. In hindsight, when I saw him I shouldn’t had done the interview
because I know the style of interview that he does . . . The whole thing about
giving a Maybach to my son, that’s really like a racist question. You don’t ask
White people what they buy their kids. And they buy ‘em Porsches and convertible
Bentleys and it ain’t no question. It’s really a racist question and put things
back in perspective with money and the way that people still look at you. And
I’m not saying that consciously he’s a racist. But he probably don’t even
realize that he would not ask Steve Jobs that. He would be like Steve Jobs has
that money and that’s the gift his kid is supposed to get.

Are the comments from Lil’ Kim about Nicki disheartening?
When I heard her say what
she said, it didn’t really affect me. I didn’t get mad at her or anything like
that. I knew how she felt. I ain’t agree with it. But also I know the
motivation. I know that people say, “Oh, he’s trying to get a new Lil’ Kim.” I
guess people will see in time. Yeah, Nicki’s had flavored wigs on, but besides
that it ain’t even the same approach to the writing.

Chris Tucker Needs to Pay the Tax Man

What's up with celebs trying to avoid Uncle Sam? We have Swizz owing $2 million and Wesley on the run. Just pay Uncle Sam because you know he's going to get you. According to documentation obtained by TMZ, Chris Tucker owes the IRS $11 million dollars.

Here's how the numbers break down.
2001 -- $4,007,794.34
2002 -- $5,060,074.23
2004 -- $55,544.84
2005 -- $660,414.94
2006 -- $1,788,080.91

It appears Tucker has not even been paying the State of California, who filed a lien against him for allegedly not paying $3,594,409 in state taxes over the same time span. We know Cali is getting that money because of how hard pressed they are for money.

Tucker is not broke by anymeans, in 2001, Tucker reportedly took in a $20 million payday for "Rush Hour 2" and scored $25 million for "Rush Hour 3" ... which hit theaters in 2007. That doesn't count all the movies he's done in between.

NYPD Settle Sean Bell Civil Lawsuit

(bell and his oldest daughter via justiceforsean.com)The NYPD and the Bell family have finally come to an agreement that pays the Bell family and the otehr victims a total of $7.15 million. This comes after one of the offending officers filed a counter lawsuit against the victims

The city agreed Tuesday to pay more than $7 million to settle a wrongful death civil suit lodged by the fiancée and pals of Sean Bell, the unarmed black groom gunned down by cops on his wedding day, sources said.

The settlement, approved by a Brooklyn federal magistrate, ends a four-year legal battle by tragic would-be bride Nicole Paultre Bell and two men wounded in a 50-shot barrage that claimed her lover's life.

Under the agreement, the city will pay $3.25 million to Sean Bell's family estate, which is controlled by Paultre Bell. Bell's pals Joseph Guzman, 35, who was shot 11 times in the incident, will receive $3 million and Trent Benefield, 27, who was shot three times, will be granted $900,000.

"I believe the settlement is fair," said Paultre Bell, the mother of Bell's two daughters, Jada, 7, and Jordyn, 4. "No amount of money can provide closure for losing Sean. I don't think there will ever be closure."

"What's important is my fight doesn't end now," she said, vowing to continue to push state legislatures to pass a package of laws to reform the Civilian Complaint Review Board, require drug testing when cops fire their guns and ban arrest quotas.

Guzman said he is still suffering from the shooting that fueled minority concerns that cops are too quick on the draw in their neighborhoods.

"I got a metal rod in my leg. I have four bullets still in me," he said, standing in front of Brooklyn Federal Court with Paultre Bell and their lawyer Sanford Rubenstein. "I don't think a black or Hispanic man's life means much in this city. It will happen again."

Guzman and Benefield, who is black, were in a car with Bell when undercover cops opened fire on them outside the Club Kalua strip club in Queens on Nov. 25, 2006, hours before Bell was to get married.

Detectives Michael Oliver, Marc Cooper and Gescard Isnora were all acquitted in a 2008 trial of manslaughter and reckless endangerment charges stemming from the Bell shooting. The cops fired on Bell's lurching car after mistakenly believing someone inside had a gun and fearing that Bell was trying to run them down.

The U.S. Attorney in Brooklyn declined to prosecute the cops for civil rights violations.

The NYPD still has yet to decide whether to discipline a total of five officers involved in the shooting.

City Corporation Counsel Michael Cardozo said he hoped the agreement will bring a "measure of closure" to all parties involved.

"The Sean Bell shooting highlighted the complexities our dedicated officers must face each day," he said. "The city regrets the loss of life in this tragic case, and we share our deepest condolences with the Bell family."

Federal Magistrate Roanne Mann signed off on the settlement during a marathon closed-door meeting with lawyers for the city, Paultre Bell and the two shooting survivors.

Detectives union President Michael Palladino called the settlement "an absolute joke."

"The police were there doing their lawful duty. Bell was intoxicated and tried to run them over," Palladino said. "The taxpayers are now on the hook for $7 million. There's something seriously wrong with that picture."
I'm trying to have a good day but we all know the cops won't be disciplined. It's been almost four years and if they were going to do something, they would have done it. It's been hell trying to get the NYPD to hold the officers acoountable. Also, to the Detectives Union President, when you think someone is going to run you over, you shoot the tires or a warning shot. 50 bullets is unjustifiable. After 1, any smart man would stop. Stop trying to justify the officers actions, they were wrong and you know they were wrong.

Quick Fixes do not exist

Good morning world. I know it's early but I woke up with a message on my heart: There is no such thing as a quick fix. For the last thirty or so years, Americans have been looking for quick fixes. We want to win the lottery, go on the latest diet, work smarter not harder, the secret of attraction and whatever other B.S. they're selling. The latest thing has been the diet craze. Take this supplement, this weight loss drink will make you lose 10 pounds a week, this natural ingredient will help you do whatever. And please don't get me into the foreign scams: send me $1,000 and I'll send you a million. #wheretheydothatat? No where that I know of. Loans don't work like that. The bank sees you have collateral and then they give you a loan you pay back later. There is no such thing as send me a few thousand and I'll give you more. It's a scam, please run as fast as you can.

Don't quick fixes kill people? It may not be physical but some kind of way it'll kill you. Let's talk about diets. Didn't quick fixes get us into this obesity mess? Instead of families cooking like they used to, they just ran to the drive through and eat greasy kinda food. This leads to obesity and loads of other health problems. The only way to combat this is lesson fast food and cook at home. You don't have to cook gourmet meals but just cook something. I usually buy a pack of meat from the store, cook a few pieces, and eat it over the course of a week or so. This works for me when I'm tired or crunched for time. Also, there is no special supplement or diet that will slim you down except eating right and exercising. Of the millions of exercises and special diets/supplements, there is only one that has not been disputed: exercise 20 minutes a day 3 days a week and eat a balance diet. That's it.

Money. Don't we need it all and don't we want it all fast. A few months ago, I was in the northwest shopping center off of Wabash in Baltimore and there were hundreds of discarded lottery tickets, literally. I named it the boulevard of broken lottery dreams. The odds of winning the lottery are like 1 in 18 million or something ridiculous. I heard there's a greater chance of being hit with an asteroid. Lately. I've been watching American Greed and the premise of most of these schemes are: give me a small investment and I'll bring you millions. Savvy investors know that the broker takes their cut after the money is made. I have an aunt and uncle who are notorious for buying into get rich schemes, I mean every one that came out, they had a stock in. They're not any richer than before.

All I'm saying is beware of quick fixes or get rich schemes. The only way to get what you want is hardwork. Oprah said it best:The big secret in life is that there is no big secret. Whatever your goal, you can get there if you’re willing to work. Take that from the richest woman in entertainment. Get out there and work.

I thought we were done with the Mj crazies

For some reason, I thought that we were done with the crazy MJ illegitimate wives and children, I obviously thought wrong. I peeped this story at Necole Bitchie, who peeped it at TMZ.

A woman who claims to be Michael Jackson’s illegitimate love child — conceived when MJ was a minor — has filed legal documents claiming there was a diabolical plot to cover up her existence … involving murder, abduction and Diana Ross’ sister.

The alleged MJ spawn — Mocienne Petit Jackson — has filed documents with L.A. County Superior Court claiming she will surely be in line for a serious inheritance check … if a judge will give the go-ahead on a DNA test.

Here’s the story — MPJ claims back in 1975, 17-year-old Michael Jackson secretly impregnated her mother Barbara … who happens to be Diana Ross’ sister.

MPJ claims when she was 9 years old, Katherine Jackson hatched a plan to “abduct” MPJ and send her to Belgium to protect Michael’s “reputation.” She claims all 7 of her abductors were later murdered.

Now MPJ — who currently lives in the Netherlands — has decided to come forward with her story … so she can “formally claim my part of my father’s inheritance.” She also wants custody of MJ’s kids so she can give them a “more normal life.”

MPJ also claims she was diagnosed with Vitiligo … so, there’s that.

Calls to Diana Ross, Barbara Ross and MJ’s camp have not been returned.

Wasn't MJ a virgin until he was 32 or something like that. I really doubt that he was having sex with anyone at 17 let alone a black woman. Just saying.

Rihanna set to star in "Battleship" movie

As if Rihanna doesn't have enough slashes besides her name, singer/songwriter/model/fashion icon, she's about to add movie star to the list. The bajan singer will be starring in the new Battleship movie with True Blood vamp Alexander Skarsgard and Friday Night Lights star Taylor Kitsch. The movie will debut in May 2012.

Celebs who should not be on Twitter

Celebs and Twitter makes an interesting relationships. Twitter has replaced publicists as the main way for celebs to issue statements. For others Twitter is a way to pass time and keep their names in the blogosphere. Here are a few celebs that should step away from the keyboard"

Tameka Foster@tameksfoster: Usher's Ex-wife is known for her twitter rants and not much else.

Mashonda(deleted Twitter): Twitter is not the place to air out your grievances about your ex-husband and his new girlfriend.

Chris Brown@chrisbrown: Twitter is not for those lacking self control, Chris Brown is one of those people. He is known for his twitter antics.

Matt Barnes@mattbarnes22: blasting your wife's cast mate via twitter is not cute. It makes you look childish and immature.

Tila Tequila@tilaomg: announcing your fake pregnancy and miscarriage is questionable at best. We know all about Tila Tequila's life, good and bad, because of her loose Twitter fingers.

Bow wow@bowow: this rapper is currently more known for his tweets than his raps and that's not a good thing.

Freakum Dress

Beyonce coined this term a few years back and I thought I'd resurrect it. After seeing the recently jilted Christina Milian in a short and tight dress hanging out with Serena Williams, last post, I knew it was a Freakum Dress.
What is a freakum dress? It's a dress designed to get his attention. This may be your boo, ex-man, the man you used to sleep with. It's the dress designed to drop jaws and make him either want to pull you in the house or take the dress off of you. Either reaction is one you want. So what do you look for in a freakum dress? Tight, short, and form fitting. And I mean formfitting, so when you decide to wear your freakum dress, make sure everything is right. Also, take note that the shoes must be high, cute, and uncomfortable. Wearing your freakum dress is not about comfort.

Christina Milian and her Freakum Dress

There is no better revenge after a break up then to be out on the town in your tightest dress having fun.

Who knew that C-mili and Serena Williams knew each other? (ybf)

The Business of Single Women

When I listen to songs like "Statistics 101" by Lyfe, who was just involved in a domestic dispute with his baby mother, or read books by Steve Harvey and Hill Harper, who have questionable relationship history themselves, it makes me wonder who are those people to tell us how to get a man.

Let's be real, single women have become a business. Woe is the woman who decides she wants a career but cannot get a man. Or woe is the woman whose love life is a revolving door. There is nothing wrong with being single. Let me say that again, there is nothing wrong with being single. There are so many how to manuals on how to snag a man with rules or get married in 30 days and other b.s. it makes you wonder should you settle? I know happy and unhappy people in relationships and I know content and lonely single people. It's all about your perspective.

With the increase of focus on singledom, Black women have borne the brunt of it. We have attitudes, our men are in jail, they marry inter racially, we're too this, we're too that. The common news is that black women are single and less likely to be married than our white counterparts. Please note that these statistics do not count divorce. With the divorce rate being ridiculously high, divorce must play a part in this. But I digress.

Let's be real, everyone wants love but we live in an idealized world where love is replaced with fantasy. We watch TV where love is so simple and carefree, that we forget that this isn't the real world. I honestly believe that people shouldn't be married or have children until they're ready for it. That may be at 20 and others at 40. Whichever age, please be sure that you're ready for a relationship and not pressured into one. And please take note that these books are for entertainment not to be taken too seriously. Your mate will come when you're ready.

VII Interview: D. Woods Riding Solo

Although she didn't get too much face time in Danity Kane, D. Woods remains one of the most popular member of Danity Kane. Maybe it's her quiet determination, which often took a back seat to Aubrey's vocal opposition to Diddy, or her "homegirl" demeanor that made her the member you wanted to hang out with. Whatever it is about D. Woods, she's still hot with her EP The Gray Area, appearances in music videos and movies, and references in numerous songs.
A few months ago, I spoke to D. Woods about her new music, Danity Kane, Shanell (of Young Money), and her current challenges in the music.

Congrats on the new album and single, tell us about that project?

The single is called Legalize me and it is available on online stores, itunes, rhapsody, amazon, any store you can think of produced by soundz and it has high energy and it’s kicking off what I like to call they gray area experience. The space where my fan base is familiar with me and my sound being with Danity Kane and taking them on a journey into my world where I will be for the full album. It’s not just an Ep but a transitional project.

When does the album come out?

The full album comes out this year. I haven’t determined the exact date but it’ll be sometime in 2010.

How is The Gray Area Experience different from anything fans have heard from you before?

It’s not very different just more information. It’s getting to know me and where my head is at and growing as a writer and as an artist. The independence mixtape series was about my claiming my independence, leaving the past situation behind me and making a mark for myself. The gray area is more serious and experimental and shaping my sound.

Right after Danity Kane split, you were involved in a project called "The Girls Club," what are you doing with that now?

The girls club is like a sorority, a network and support system. There are a lot of things in the works and supporting the individual projects of each female. We’re constantly out there supporting each other, keeping each other out there working, bringing each other on each one’s projects and helping to promote each other. That’s kind of what the aim is for the girls club to just get everyone to a comfortable place. One day we’ll do more visible things together but now we’re just kinda like split out and hopefully we’ll come together.

What are the challenges of being in the music industry right now?

This is a challenging industry period. It’s a challenging thing to get your vision executed and realized. Right now it’s just the economy where you’re doing a lot more but you don’t really see the profit. You still have to keep it going. A lot of people aren’t spending like that and you’re competing with how technology is advancing rapidly and it’s almost saturated with artists fighting for the same space. That’s challenging but it makes it excited at the same time. If we were the type of people who needed structure and guaranteed anything, I don’t think we would have chosen this profession because you never what’s going to happen. You have to take the pros and the cons and keep moving.

Congrats on your new label, Woodgate Records, how did that come about?

I have kind of been on that path I believe my whole life and I didn’t realize it. Each situation that I put myself in kind of prepared me for this day. Even me graduated from NYU, I graduated with an individualized major. I made up my own major in college because I was in a program and the program didn’t work for me, so I made up my own. It’s like I did that again. I started out in a structure that did what it did but I outgrew it and once the group disbanded. I was trying to gage what I wanted to do next and going out and getting another record deal didn’t really feel like what I wanted to do. I was basically promoting myself anyone, putting together my own projects and seeing the live shows and the marketing strategy and I was doing all this to a small degree so I decided to do it officially. I don’t have other artists on my label as of yet. I’m really focused on putting out D. woods material first and foremost. That’s something I want to do. I know of so many talented people who are looking for the right situation and being in the same situation that they are in now I want to establish an exception. I have to focus, one step at a time.

So do you still speak to the members of Danity Kane?

Every now and then

Are you and Aubrey still friends?

Yes, we're still friends

What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned from that experience?

Having the right team around you to get your vision maximized and available to the world.

Besides the album, what else are you working on?

I’m working on some film and tv projects. I just finished movie called We Are Family and some other film and TV projects in the works and fine tuning my project and getting Woodgrain entertainment up and running. I see a lot of work

What advice do you have for people who want to do what you are doing?

I would keep working on your craft, fine tune your vision and just keep visualizing it. There are so many doors that are going to close or things that seem like obstacles but if you always have that vision and do something to make it happen everyday, it’ll happen eventually. It may be an unexpected curve ball but keep that vision and you’ll get there.

What do you want people to know about D.woods?

I want to be able to open their imaginations and give them an experience for what I’m doing. To be able to take them somewhere else whether they are in the car listening to it, sitting at home watching the video, or come to the actual concert. I want every time they’re in my presence or in the presence of my music for it to take them somewhere. To show them the multifacetiousness of me.

Do you have a five year goal, and if you do what is that?

I see more of the goals I’ve come up with actually happening some of the albums, tours, movies. Hopefully all the things I’m thinking of now, I’ve done or I’m doing and I’m coming up with new stuff. Rolling the snowball.

Is there anything else you would like to say?

Go get my single on itunes and thank you for your support and being patient.

Fashion No No: Foxy Brown

Here is Foxy Brown at a show this weekend looking interesting. It's so bad that the man behind her is laughing. This outfit is a fashion no-no. A.) it's ill-fitting. Her boobs are hanging out and it's too tight. B.)it's the wrong color. The color isn't bad but it does nothing for her. Is that a dollar store chain? May we suggest this:

This nude dress offers the neutral Foxy wants with the coverage she needs. The dress also has the star flair to it. $450 – shopbop.com

Trend Alert: Jeggings

Leggings are the trend that refuses to die. Every time we think leggings have exposed a poor soul's muffin top for the last time, they find a way to reinvent themselves. This time, Leggings have become jeans. Jeggings, yes someone has combined Leggings and Jeans for a cute word, are all the rage this fall. Jeggings are also another reason to keep your body on point this fall.
