Look of the Day: Purple Pants

Colored pants are in this season, although I think colored pants should always be in. Why are people so scared of color? Anyway, I have a pair of purple pants that I have worn one way: with a gray sweater, but thanks to pinterest and polyvore, I have found new wearable looks for my pants.

Here is Wimer Valderrama looking very nice and dapper. I like this overall look. Nice, crisp, and non creepy.

I like this dress on Monica Nohuera. It does ombre well, it's classic, and nice. It doesn't do too much. I like it. 

Nicki Minaj, We Need to Talk

I like this new look you have going on. You're in bright colors while looking like an adult. Kudos to you and your stylist. I'm willing to forgive the eyelashes because the make up is on point. I'm a bit confused about the striped matronly suit but  if you took the jacket off, it would be better. Girl, where did you get that lace front? Better yet, who applied that lace front? Whoever did, needs to be fired ASAP. You also need to get your eyes checked because that wig is applied all kinds of wrong.

First, I can see the lace and it's not properly applied to your head.Second, I can see your natural hair color. Third, it looks like left over Barbie hair. What is going on? Nicki, you make too much money for this. I don't hate the color or even the wig, I just know you can do better. BTW, I love the bottom outfit. I will be recreating it.

Look of The Day: Nicki Minaj in Paper Magazine

Bravo to Nicki Minaj or the stylists at Paper Magazine. I love this look on Nicki Minaj and yes I will be recreating this look. I'm not even mad at the crazy looking hair. If I was Nicki, I would have taken both of these outfits home with me. I love Nicki Minaj in simple looks and I love color. Nicki needs to keep this look which is a mix of youthful adolescence and adult chic. We know she'll be back to looking like a cartoon in no time though.

Now if we can talk about those contacts and those atrocious eyelashes. I think Nicki needs a new make up artist because it's hit or mess a lot. Her make up is the only thing that is throwing this pic off. Maybe she's wearing too much concealer but it looks off.

Fashion Tip of the Day: Dressing for the Occasion

As I peruse the blogs for my daily fix, I seem to be coming across one trend that needs to stop, everyone attending different events at the same event. Let me explain. One person is in jeans and a t-shirt, the next person is in a club dress, one person looks like they're going to the prom. It has to stop. I use Ashanti as an example because she attended Jay-Z's 40/40 club reopening looking she was attending the prom. The dress code was a bit fuzzy. I saw jeans, bomber jackets, suits, etc but Ashanti looks over dressed. The dress is cute. I like the color and it fits her well but it was too much.

If you're unclear on the dress code, find a go-to outfit. This outfit straddles the line between dressy and casual. A blazer and a pair of well fitting dress pants is perfect for any occasion. Add a pair of heels and you will fit in whether the event is semi-casual or casual. You can also have a go to dress. A simple well fitted dress and heels will fit in at any event. Note: these tips are for events where the dress code is not specified. If the dress code is on the invitation, then you need to dress accordingly. Never mistake formal for sem-formal. A dress or a well fitting suit are the only way to go. A little black dress is always in style.

Tiny's New Look

Yay, Tiny actually looks like a wife and mother. Or dare I say, she looks normal for once. At this pic taken at Dwyane Wade's 30th birthday party, which I'm kind of giving the side eye to because I know he is 30 but he looks really old, Tiny is rocking the black shoulder length bob and it looks nice. She normally looks interesting with her blonde, kool-aid dyed red hair, pink, and brown dollar store weaves but she looks nice in this look. Kudos to Tiny and I want her to keep it up.

I have nothing to say about T.I except that one of his sons looks just like him. There is nothing special about T.I's look and it may be time for him to adopt a grown up look like Tiny has.

Edit Your Outfit: Jennifer Hudson

I have no idea what is going on with Jennifer Hudson's outfit but she needs to stop. I like dusty rose. I think it's a universal color that looks good on most skin tones and it also gives an edge. Jennifer looks like a 70's go-go dancer from a trashy club. I don't even know what that thing is around her neck.  Jennifer, you make too much money to wear this. I have put together two alternatives for Jennifer.

Alternative 1:

This outfit gives Jennifer the edge she desires. The short and patterned tights add a pop and the metallic colors keep her in the dusty rose family. This outfit is chic and edgy but most of all it's modern and adult.

Alternative 2:

This outfit is still edgy but it's more winter friendly. She gets the dusty rose color and edgy leggings.

Both outfits have a blazer because I like blazers. They give the versatility of  looking classy but they can be edged up with leggings or jeans for the club or an event. They can also be added to a dress for extra comfort.

Why, Nicki, Why?

Kudos to Nicki Minaj for looking human. We're going to ignore the fact she needs some double stick tape and some altering to make it fit up top and a wig that isn't pink. Anything other than that "cover my eyes and whatever I pick out is what I wear" look that she has been rocking lately is an upgrade. Let's talk about her make up. 2 weeks ago at the AMA's, Nicki accepted two awards with questionable make up and now this look. I have no idea what is going on with her make up but it needs to stop. I don't know if she needs a new make up artist or if she does it herself but this is a no-no. Doesn't Nicki Minaj have an endorsement deal with Mac? She needs a representative to come to her house and help her match her face to her body. It pains me to see stars with access to the best everything looking sub par. Don't do it again.

Really Jackie

This qualifies for the wreck of a life. My fashion motto is: there's no wrong way to have style. But this is all wrong. I don't need to see the rest of the dress to know that it is a disaster. This dress does nothing for Jackie except make her look nasty. The key to great style is fit, this does not fit Jackie at all. There's nothing cute about a dress being so tight that your arm fat spills from the dress. This dress is an epic fail and I need her to fire or hire a stylist because this isn't it. I've included some dress ideas that may be flattering on Jackie and will give her that chic look she desires. Please make sure it fits before you step out in public and do your arms like that.

Wreck of the Day: Rocsi

I'm not going to edit this outfit. I'm not going to waste too much time commenting but this outfit deserves to be burned and never spoke of again. Rocsi, I know you wanna do the acting thing and you spend hours working on your body, but you're trying too hard. I know in today's culture, the less you wear the better, but less is more. If this dress was solid and didn't have the 90's slit up to the crotch, I wouldn't be mad it at. But you look like Elvira's slutty cousin that no one talks about and you need to retire this look and never repeat it. You're too good for this. That. Is. All. 

Nike 6.0 x DeLorean Dunks

Nike's 6.0 line unveils the DeLorean Dunks. Modeled after Marty McFly's car of choice for leisure time travel, the famous DeLorean DMC-12.


The DeLorean Dunks sport a matte silver upper with an outsole that references the DeLorean's tail lights. A Belfast stamp on the tongue recalls the Irish factory where the car was originally produced. Horizontal stripes along the back mimic the DeLorean's rear window shades. The small details show the attention and focus Nike 6.0 took towards the DMC-12 Dunks.





Even the box itself pays tribute to the DeLorean's fold out doors.

Look of the Week: Mary j. Blige

Mary is look of the week because she understands how to dress for cooler weather. I love fall but some people, Keri Hilson, understand how to dress for fall. Mary shows you can be covered up and sexy at the same time. Take notes.

Jordan Melo M7 - "Jade" / "University Blue"

As we inch closer to November 21st, Nike keeps the conveyor belt rolling with these colorways of the Melo M7. Slated to drop just before Turkey Day in the states, the M7 will be on shelves with a price tag of $130. Expect Zoom Air in the Phylon material forefoot and a large volume Max Air unit in the heel of the M7.

First up are the M7's "Jade" colorway.



The special "Jade" colorway is symbolic of Carmelo's transition from a "rough, unpolised stone" into the gem that we know today (and all this time, you were thinking the shoes had something to do with Heineken, lol). The red laces represent China, where the jade stone is highly revered.



A Chinese proverb is written on the jade colored translucent outsole that translates to "if the jade is not polished, it will not be a gem". Chinese Jade artwork also adorn the special packaging of the M7.



The "Jade" M7 are currently an Asia exclusive, but you can (pre-)order them here.



More in line with the jerseys that engulf the Pepsi Center are the "University Blue" colorway. Inspired by the colors of the Denver Nuggets, the "University Blue" M7 are draped in White patent leather (with a White underlay) atop a Univ. Blue midsole. The Max Air unit in the heel are in a Nuggets Varsity Maize.
