Just Stick It Out?

This post was inspired by Love and Hip Hop.  If you have followed my posts about the show, then you would know that Emily has been in a "relationship" with Fabulous for 9 years and they have a son together but not only has he never claimed her publicly, he has denied her publicly. She has lived with him, slept with him, worked with him, had a baby with him, but has never been officially with him. That's a problem. In this week's episode, one of Fab's friends, (major side eye) told Emily to stick it out and he will come around eventually. Did I mention that Fab's friend was a female? So Emily is supposed to live with Fab having multiple jump offs, having them stare in her face, Kimbella and Erica have slept with him and they're on this show, him publicly deny her all in the hope of him "coming around?" Girl, bye. If Fab has not come around in 9 years, let's say that again ni-ne years, then he's not coming around. He may "come around" once his sales are stalled and the groupies are gone but who wants that? Who wants to win by default? If he was not already "around" the chances of him coming around are none. Kimbella's mother also told her a similar thing last episode.

I say all that to bring me to this, do you just stick it out? Mind you, back in the day women stuck it out in marriages. The wife was long suffering and she just dealt with the consequences of husbands cheating. These were wives, who had a legally binding relationship and was entitled to something if the husband decided to run off with a mistress. The women I named are girlfriends and baby mommas. The only legal right they have is to child support, other than that there is no real reason to stick it out. Why are we sticking it out with people we are not legally tied to? Is this the person you want to marry? You're just his "girlfriend" and he already cheats, lies, and disrespects you, do you think it'll change once you get married? You have made a vow to a person who has not, and probably does not plan, to make a vow to you. Why do they need to make a vow to you if you accept so much stuff without a vow? If you're not married, why stick it out? If your relationship brings you more pain than joy, why stick it out?

I get it, everyone has BS. If you find a person without an issue, I'll show you someone who is lying. Everyone comes from somewhere and has baggage; it's not letting the baggage get in the way that counts. I say stick it out if the person has basic personality issues. They're not disrespectful, abusive, cheating, or lying, then fine, stick it out because everyone has issues. If this person treats you like crap, why stick it out? Don't stick it out for the kids because they see the hurt and pain and it affects them. Sometimes it's best to just let go.

Emily irritates me. She has it all and could have any man she wants but she settles for Fab waiting for him to "come around." She's beautiful, smart, has a good career, and is fairly independent but she wants to waste her life waiting on Fab. One day she'll regret it Why stick around for someone who knows that they can do whatever they want and you stay? You'll never have the relationship you truly want because you're settling for whatever you can get. If this is you, know you are better than this. You don't have to stick anything out.
