Let's talk about interracial dating for a moment. Why is this such a controversial subject? If someone finds love with a person of another race, why are you mad about it? What does it have to do with you? Do you think that if they met you first, then they wouldn't be with this person? Do you want them? Would you even want them if you knew them? These are just basic questions.
Interracial dating is such a big issue in black community and I know the history behind black/white relations, but why should we live as if we were directly involved in it when we're 5 or 6 generations removed from slavery? If black men, and women, who marry outside their race are considered guilty of self hate, what does this say about the person they marry? Are they guilty of self hate? They didn't marry a person in their race.
As much as this seems to be a black/white issue, the people who should really be upset about this are Asian men and white women because white men and Asian women are the most prevalent interracial couple. There is such a lack of Chinese women, by the Chinese's own doing, that men actually have to leave China to find a wife. Yes, black women, Chinese men have us beat. I have actually heard Asian women, list reasons why they won't date Asian men, but they don't get flack for interracial dating. Maybe I haven't done enough research but black/white interracial dating seems to be the most discussed.
I'm all for love. I believe that love comes in every shade. If the person you happen to love is another race, so what? Love is love and it shouldn't matter what race the person is as long as the person is happy.
